Episode five of Secret Life of the Safari Park, and with Valentine’s Day approaching quickly, there’s a real sense of love being in the air across the park. This episode focuses on Baldr the bison, Snout and Gemini the baboons, Hansi the Somali wild ass and Shaun the tapir.
European Bison, Baldr
Can there be anything worse than being the safari’s most eligible Bison bachelor and there being no females to impress? Baldr really doesn’t think so and there can be little doubt that he is expressing his frustrations in ways that aren’t always appreciated by guests and other animals in the park. The team have a plan for helping Baldr find a home where he can have his pick of the ladies – but getting him there proves to be more of an adventure than anyone expected.

Snout & Gemini
Love triangles are a tale as old as time but in baboon troops, falling for the wrong girl can create some serious problems. Snout and Gemini are very much the Posh and Becks of Knowsley’s baboon troop and they have been a power couple for a long time. When Norbert decides that Gemini is the girl for him, Snout has to deal with the challenge to his position at the top of the baboon tree.

Hansi, Somali Wild Ass
Young love can be a minefield to navigate, and with Somali wild ass being so Critically Endangered, there’s a lot of pressure on young buck Hansi to play his part in raising the next generation. His seduction and flirting skills are under pressure with mares Eriba, Fahra and Ayisha – who have clearly seen and heard it all before. The question is whether Hansi has what it takes to go from man about the park to a doting dad?
Lowland Tapir, Shaun
When it’s just you and your sons in the park, thoughts of romance and flirting are far from being front of mind. But there’s still a need to have the perfect smile. Dental problems are a significant factor in the death of wild animals, so when Shaun starts to have problems with his teeth, the team has to step in to do carry out some essential dentistry and help make one tapir very happy.
