Episode three of Secret Life of the Safari Park showed just how rich and wonderful life at Knowsley can be for the animals and their keepers. This episode follows the lives of Bobby the baby baboon, Meru one of our Southern white rhinos, M the ostrich and Froja the moose.
Southern white rhino, Meru
Knowsley’s crash of Southern white rhinos are among the most popular and amazing animals in the park and there’s a wonderful, but much-welcomed surprise for the team when they look in on Meru the middle-aged matriarch of the Rhino herd….

Baby Bobby
Growing up in baboon society means learning your place in the hierarchy pretty quickly, and that also means learning quickly who to spend your time with and who to steer clear of. Baby Bobby might be pushing his luck when he decides to hang out with older male baboon Dennis.

M
With only two toes, an ostrich can’t really afford to have problems with either of them. So, when our vet, Jen, noticed that M was having a problem with one of her feet, she had to work out the best treatment and the quickest way of getting M back out and creating traffic jams in the park.
Froja
Getting old can be a challenge for anyone and it’s fair to say that Froja the European moose does well for her age. Making sure that she lives a long, fulfilling, and happy life means coming up with innovative ways of keeping the deer and some very problematic European bison out of her food.
