We offer a range of educational activities for schools including workshops, guided tours, enhanced discovery days and school outreach that help to bring the curriculum to life for both teachers and pupils alike.
Does your child really love animals? Then we know they’ll love being part of one of our Zoo Schools. We’ve got exciting programmes for 7 – 18 year olds, to help them get even closer to the animals and give them practical experience of what it might be like to work in a safari park!
A wild experience from your classroom
If you can’t make it to Knowsley, well why don’t we bring it to you? Our brilliant Knowsley Safari Outreach Service, is delivered from the comfort of your classroom, with learning sessions all year round for nursery groups, primary and secondary schools and even beyond!
A discovery workshop is a vital part of your visit to us. All of our discovery workshops are led by professional educators and use live animal and bio artefacts to really bring learning to life in a way that wouldn’t be possible in the classroom.
Enhanced Discovery Days
Enhanced Discovery Days give your students a whole day of learning at Knowsley Safari. You will be looked after by one of our enthusiastic guides from start to finish. Children will enjoy everything the park has to offer and take part in some special activities which will enhance their interaction with our animals.
Get the most out of your Safari Drive with your very own guide. Find out amazing facts, information and stories about our animals as you travel round our 5 mile reserve. Our tours are fun, interactive and suitable for all age groups. (Microphone on bus/coach is required).
EYFS – Messy Play Days
Messy Play days give your youngest students the chance to discover the wonderful world of wildlife through a variety of hands-on sensory activities.
Our sensory sessions are led and developed by professional educators with all sensory activities being based around animals and the natural world to introduce children in a fun, interactive and friendly way to nature.

Intrepid Explorers – age 7 to 10 yrs old
A 5 day programme perfect for youngsters who love animals, conservation and nature!
Our Intrepid Explorers is a fun holiday programme where children take part in a range of activities exploring the natural world and how to look after it. This includes a range of games, crafts and messy activities both in and out the classroom.
Junior Rangers – age 11 to 14 yrs .
An exciting 3 day club for children aged 11-14 to qualify as a Knowsley Safari Junior Ranger. Perfect for young animal lovers interested in knowing more about conservation and the natural world.
There will be amazing behind the scenes experiences including meeting our sea lions and learning how they are trained, feeding the giraffe and carnivore enrichment.
Knowsley Academy – age 15 to 18 yrs
The intensive 5 day course covers practical husbandry experience with a range of animals which may include reptiles, carnivores and giraffe. Tasks vary but can include: mucking out, preparing food, making enrichment or watching a training session.
Messy Play – age 6 months – 4 years
Messy play is a brand new event for kids right here on safari. It’s a fun, interactive and creative playtime for children aged 6 months – 4 years old. As we’re on safari the play is themed around the natural world helping your little one learn about nature with different textures, materials and toys.
