Permanent Positions

Coordinator - Ungulates

We have an exciting opportunity for a Coordinator to join the Safari team in the Ungulates department. Following a restructure of our animal team aimed towards focussing on skills base and taxonomy, our animal team is now made up of a Carnivore team and an Ungulate team. Each team is led by an Animal Team Manager who has a Senior Coordinator and Coordinator reporting into them. Senior Coordinators and Coordinators are responsible for the daily operation of the section and will manage staff on a day-to-day basis.

Seasonal Positions

Learning and Discovery Office Support

We are recruiting for a warm, welcoming and well organised individual to support the Learning & Discovery department with the following tasks. These tasks are somewhat the ‘backbone’ of the department: The essential jobs which allow us to function and welcome 25,000 school children a year. We are looking for a candidate who can provide first class customer service and also support the educators in the team with their tasks, timetables and delivery. The department is dynamic and fast paced so we are looking for an applicant who is both bubbly and energetic but also conscientious in their work.


Main Responsibilities

Supporting the running of the Learning and Discovery department through the following means:

  • Dealing with school enquiries and bookings via phone and email
  • Meet and greet schools on the day of their visit supporting with payment and activity schedule
  • Managing the online shop and processing orders for  kids clubs
  • Inputting data
  • Producing basic reports on bookings
  • Support the production on departmental rota
  • Communicate activities with other safari teams

Ideally the candidate will be trained to deliver guided tours to school groups on coaches to support on an ad hoc basis. Good presentation skills and confidence in public speaking and using a microphone is required. Prior animal knowledge is preferred but not essential. Full training will be given.

  • An excellent telephone manner and competency with Word and Excel is essential as well as being generally computer literature. Full training will be provided on internal systems.


Hours of Work

Monday to Friday 9.30am-2pm, term time only based on Liverpool City region school holidays. Some flexibility is required  e.g. during peak school season a finish time of 3pm.


Contract Type

This role is for a fixed term only and employment will be via our external recruitment agency on a temporary workers agreement.

Anticipated start date – Week commencing 25th February

Anticipated end of contract – Week commencing 22nd July

For individuals who are planning a career within the zoological community, Knowsley Safari’s Internships are a fantastic opportunity to learn from our experienced staff within an outstanding Safari Park environment.

At this time we only offer the following two work experience / internship programmes and are therefore unfortunately unable to accommodate any other requests that do not meet the criteria or commitment as outlined below. To be eligible to apply for our internships you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be 18 years old or above.
  • You must be able to commit to the full duration of the placement on the dates agreed.

For Animal Team Internships:

  • You must be undertaking an animal related course which requires work experience or placement; or
  • You intend to take a ‘sandwich year’ within your degree in order to gain experience within a zoological collection.
  • Working with animals can be routine and very physically demanding, you should have a reasonable level of fitness to carry out the placement and will be required to complete a medical questionnaire.

Please note that all placements are voluntary and unpaid. Accommodation is not provided. Places available are limited for each opportunity and are subject to application and assessment.
