Permanent Positions

Property Services Helpdesk Administrator

We’re looking for an experienced Helpdesk Administrator to join our Property Services department to support the team by making the office environment and processes efficient and keeping information flowing and the team organised and prepared in their roles.

The Knowsley Estate is a diverse and energetic estate with a mixture of properties and land including the iconic Knowsley Safari and Knowsley Hall with surrounding grounds. The Estate also comprises commercial, residential and agricultural properties of a variety of ages and construction within the walls of the park and surrounding areas. This alone creates an abundance of diverse work for the Property Services department, from isolated defect investigation for listed buildings to interesting refurbishment projects and much more.

This is an exciting time to join the Property Services department at the forefront of current and future plans to continually improve the Estate with a balanced focus on preservation, sustainability and modernisation. As a key member of the department the successful applicant will play an important role supporting the team through the provision of administrative support.

We have an exciting opportunity for an Animal Team Manager to join the Safari team in the Ungulates department. Following a restructure of our animal team aimed towards focussing on skills base and taxonomy, our animal team is now made up of a Carnivore team and an Ungulate team. Each team is led by an Animal Team Manager who reports in to the Head of the Living Collection.

Retail Manager

Wild Republic Retail operate the shops in Knowsley Safari. They have operated shops in zoos and aquariums worldwide for over 20 years. They are now looking for a Retail Manager, who is an experienced manager ready for an exciting new challenge at Knowsley Safari.

The successful candidate should prepared to be flexible with seasonal hours, be a strong leader with high standards of customer service and visual merchandising. They will lead the team of up to 10 staff (full time and part time) to operate the business efficiently and effectively, maximising customer spend, negotiating with suppliers and controlling costs.

For individuals who are planning a career within the zoological community, Knowsley Safari’s Internships are a fantastic opportunity to learn from our experienced staff within an outstanding Safari Park environment.

At this time we only offer the following two work experience / internship programmes and are therefore unfortunately unable to accommodate any other requests that do not meet the criteria or commitment as outlined below. Please read the following information carefully, along with the pages linked that provide more information about the internships below before emailing or applying.

To be eligible to apply for our internships you must meet the following criteria:

  • You must be 18 years old or above.
  • You must be able to commit to the full duration of the placement on the dates agreed.

For Animal Team Internships:

  • You must be undertaking an animal related course which requires work experience or placement; or
  • You intend to take a ‘sandwich year’ within your degree in order to gain experience within a zoological collection.
  • Working with animals can be routine and very physically demanding, you should have a reasonable level of fitness to carry out the placement and will be required to complete a medical questionnaire.

Please note that all placements are voluntary and unpaid. Accommodation is not provided. Places available are limited for each opportunity and are subject to application and assessment.
