Our Junior Rangers programme is back for 2022!

This programme is for 11–14-year-olds with an interest in animals and a passion for the natural world. This year, our Junior Rangers programme is split into two different themed programmes – Keeper life and Caring for Carnivores. When booking you will get the option to pick which of the two themed programmes you would like to attend. Each programme has different activities. The 2 programmes run on different weekends and booking will be subject to availability. Both days will run from 9:00am-3:30pm.

Junior Rangers – Keeper Life

This Junior Rangers weekend is themed around zookeeping and is perfect for those who may wish to be a zookeeper or work with animals in the future! The Junior Rangers will assist our zookeepers in numerous activities such as making enrichment for and mucking out a variety of animals. The Junior Rangers will also get the chance to take a trip on our baboon bus and see all of our animals on the safari drive, as well as delivering some specially made treats for our cheekiest residents.
During this programme, the Junior Rangers will also design their own enclosure for an animal of their choice before spending some time in our own woodland walk taking in the local wildlife.

Junior Rangers – Caring for Carnivores

This Junior Rangers weekend is themed all around our captivating carnivores and how our keepers care for them. During this programme, our junior rangers will make treats and toys for a range of carnivores and will join our keepers in delivering them. The junior rangers will also get the chance to help the keepers in their daily routines by assisting them with the cleaning and mucking out of a carnivore enclosure.
During this programme the Junior Rangers will also head around our safari drive on our baboon bus, design their own enclosure for a carnivore of their choice before spending some time in our own woodland walk taking in the local wildlife.

  • Saturday 15th January and Sunday 16th January
  • Saturday 5th February and Sunday 6th February

All children will receive a certificate and photo USB at the end to celebrate their graduation as a Junior Ranger.

 

The day will be designed with the latest Covid-19 government guidelines in mind.

 

Please note: Due to the nature of working with animals we cannot guarantee any activities. These sessions must be booked in advance, and they are non-transferable and non-refundable.
