Autism Friendly Days Out

It can be difficult finding places to visit for a day out if your child has additional needs. With so much space to explore and simple ways to avoid the crowds, Knowsley Safari is a great day out for children with autism.

A Day Out in a Familiar Place
See the animals in your own private space as you explore the safari park from the comfort of your own car. A familiar space with over 5-miles of wild entertainment.

A Pain-Free Day Out

We understand that autistic children may not enjoy being in noisy or crowded spaces. Use a pair of our ear defenders for our animal displays and allow our autism-friendly staff to put you at ease.

Visit When It’s Quiet

To get the most out of your visit, we’d recommend visiting first thing in the morning when the park is quiet. Or, avoid the crowds by visiting mid-week during term time.

Go At Your Own Pace

Fast or slow. Baboon jungle or no baboon jungle. Enjoy the safari at your own pace by driving around as many times as you like.

See Your Favourite Animals in Action

Double-check our animal display times for your kids’ must-see shows by downloading the Knowsley Safari App. Please note that we, unfortunately, do not have space for prams at the giraffe platform or sea lion auditorium.

Enjoy Some Time Out

The excitement of the safari can be overwhelming for some. If you need some quiet time, our Wolf Country woodland walk is peaceful with lots of space to let off steam.

Here’s what people are saying on TripAdvisor:

My children are only 7 and 9 and one has autism. We got there as soon as it opened and it was so quiet which is what we need for our Son as he can’t deal with noise and crowds. He has had an amazing day and the rides are perfect for my children too.’ - Lorna, Rainhill

‘They even had ear defenders available for children/adults who have autism, (as we forgot to take ours). The staff are so friendly and so autism aware as well. Well done Knowsley you made our visit perfect.’ - Clayton, London

‘Our daughter has autism so we struggle to find places for her to go that she will feel happy but this place is perfect as you can sit in the comfort of your own car.’ - Mrs Seg, Newcastle Upon Tyne

‘I took my 19-year-old son who has autism to Knowsley and we had a fab day. He normally doesn't last long at such places but we were there for over five hours! The staff were so friendly and helpful, lots of disabled toilets and everything was on one level.’ - Kathryn, Macclesfield
