Ways to get involved
Roadshows provide the opportunity for our Learning and Discovery team to offer FREE workshops to schools and colleges within the Liverpool City Region along with onsite activities for members of the public. Workshops are typically 60 minutes in duration, consisting of hands on interactive activities whilst catering for a wide range of ages, abilities and additional support needs.
CAREERS & ASPIRATIONS
Here at Knowsley Safari we recognise the importance in investing our time to inform students of the opportunities available to them within our sector. In doing so we hope to expel some of the myths associated with working within a zoo or safari park whilst making students of all ages more aware of the wide range of job roles available to them. To do so members of our Learning and Discovery team regularly support local schools and colleges with; mock Interviews, careers fairs, guest lectures (charges may apply) and employability skills workshops on site. (charges apply).
To meet the high demand for such activities preference will initially be given to educational facilities within the Liverpool City Region such as schools, colleges, universities and wider education facilities. However please do get in touch if you fall outside of this area, we will be happy to review our availability for the events to which you are seeking support.
Please note: We are particularly eager to work with alternative education providers, pupil referral units and learners with special educational needs in additional to young adults not currently in education, employment or training.
TRANSFERABLE SKILLS PROGRAMME
Designed to introduce participants to the wide range of job roles within the safari park through the completion of varied activities such as animal husbandry, site maintenance, gardening and administration, no two weeks will be the same! This programme offers a unique opportunity for small groups to develop a wide range of employability and transferable skills such as; team work, self- confidence, communication and appropriate behaviours within a real-life working environment.
ANIMALS OF THE WORLD
This is our enrichment programme for young carers and wider community/youth groups which includes 6x 1-hour outreach sessions and an optional end of programme visit to Knowsley Safari*
This series of interactive outreach sessions is designed to introduce young people to animals from around the world whom live here at Knowsley Safari. This enrichment programme was originally designed for young carers aged between 6-17 years of age. However, will suit any community group working with young people that are looking for an engaging series of sessions that’ll introduce the wonders of the natural world in an interactive and fun way.
Outreach sessions are typically one hour in duration and run for 6 consecutive weeks at a date, time and local convenient to your community group. There is also the option to take part in an end of programme visit to Knowsley Safari whereby you’ll have the opportunity to take part in behind the scenes activities (dependent on season, group size and needs) that’ll provide an opportunity to see some of the animals learnt about during the outreach programme.
