Working together to secure their future

Once numbering over half a million, rhinos are now one of the most critically endangered species on Earth. Habitat loss and a devastating rise in poaching for their horns have decimated their populations. Today, a mere 27,427 rhinos survive outside parks and sanctuaries.

The primary driver of this poaching crisis is the demand for rhino horn in Southeast Asia, particularly China and Vietnam. A dangerous misconception persists that rhino horn, made of keratin (the same material as our hair and nails!), possesses medicinal properties. This myth fuels a lucrative black market, where rhino horn is valued higher than gold.

With such high prices and dwindling populations, rhinos face a desperate fight for survival. We must act now to combat poaching, educate consumers, and protect these magnificent creatures before it's too late.

OUR CONSERVATION PARTNER

OUR AIM

Our aim is to help rhinos survive at sustainable levels in their natural habitat. They face their biggest challenge as man restricts their natural habitat and kills them for their horn.

We aim to help the species survive for future generations through the development of sustainable populations.

HOW WILL WE HELP?

Knowsley Safari is proud to partner with Helping Rhinos in their vital mission to save these incredible creatures. Our team will contribute time and expertise to review, update, and develop educational materials for Helping Rhinos and we'll sponsor individual rhinos, directly supporting their care and conservation.

We'll leverage our social media platforms to promote Helping Rhinos' message and share relevant content and Knowsley Safari will provide any additional technical, educational, or public engagement resources as needed, making visitors aware when they visit.

By working together, we can educate visitors, raise awareness, and inspire action to ensure a brighter future for rhinos.
