OUR AIM

To further the conservation of red squirrels in partnership with RSRN.

"By 2030, the aim is for red squirrel conservation to be more resilient because more people are involved at all levels - from volunteering, to advocating for red squirrels, through to donating."

The Red Squirrel Recovery Network is a new project funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund. It is led by a partnership of six different conservation organisations, with support from leading red squirrel conservation agencies. It aims to build on conservation efforts of the last 20 years and lay the foundations for species recovery.

HOW WILL WE HELP?

We are educating and raising awareness of our native red squirrels and the threats they face, as well as the conservation efforts already in place to help them.

We connect people and communities to nature, while promoting wellbeing through conservation, through free to access community engagement sessions and school workshops, as well as educational talks and guest engagement on site.

GET INVOLVED

There's plenty of ways to get involved and help us protect our native reds.

Become a volunteer based at Knowsley Safari through Red Squirrel Recovery Network and help our team engage with the community and monitor squirrel populations. There's plenty of roles to suit varied interests and abilities.

Reporting a squirrel sighting provides us with data that increases our understanding of population spread and movement and makes our conservation work even more effective. If you've seen a red or grey squirrel, you can submit your sighting here.
