Thank you to everyone that has visited us this year. We would like to wish you all a great Christmas and a Happy New Year.  There is an update below about what's new for schools visiting in 2017!

NEW for 2017! Add a Discovery Bag to your next visit…

Discovery Bags

When you’re planning your next trip to Knowsley Safari book to use our great new Discovery Bags.
They’re full of information and props to engage your pupils and make learning last.

With a Discovery Bag in hand you can show your students how long a giraffe tongue is and see if they can hold their breath for as long as a capybara! Learn about the different ways elephants use their trunk and all the amazing adaptations meerkats have. Take a trip to the woodland to spot the moose and try to find the oldest tree.

The Discovery Bags have a different folder full of information, questions and props for each animal exhibit on the foot safari. Best of all, they’re free to use, book in advance.
We ask for a £20 deposit for the use of the bags which is returned once the bags have been handed back. As we’re developing these packs we also ask that complete a brief feedback form too.

To book a Discovery Bag for your visit please call the Learning and Discovery Team on 0151 430 9009.

Bush dogs

Since our last newsletter we have had a new arrival at the park. Two bush dogs, Simon and Lola. Native to South America, they’re the worlds smallest pack hunting canine. They are settling in very well and seem to like each other. They have even made their own little den. Keep your fingers crossed for the pitter-patter of tiny feet!

Tiger competition

Teachers, get your creative class involved in our schools competition for a chance to win an outreach education session. We will visit the winning individual’s class for a fun afternoon of learning with live animals and artefacts!
Work on a brand new tiger trial will be starting soon so we’ve made the theme for our art competition this year all about TIGERS!
Amur Tigers love to play in the water and splash around, they are excellent hunters and live in forests and snowy areas or the Russian far east. We have 2 tigers at Knowsley Safari Sinda and Bira.

Bira and Sinda

Art work can be created using any medium (paint, crayon, collage, digital) and should be submitted on paper.
The name, age, school and contact details should be written on the back of each picture, only 1 entry is allowed per child and unfortunately we will not be able to return submitted entries.
Entries can be dropped off at the park during your visit or posted to Ellie Sowerby, Learning and Discovery Team, Knowsley Safari, Prescot, Merseyside, L34 4AN.
We will judge the entries in age categories. Categories are under 5’s, 5-10 year olds and 10-15 year olds. The top entries from each category will get there pictures displayed at the park and the winning individual will receive a free outreach session for their class.
Closing dates for entries is Friday 17th February 2017.

Visiting Knowsley Safari

If you are thinking of visiting us with your class in the Spring book now to ensure you get a Guided Tour around the Safari drive. One of the Learning and Discovery team will hop onto your coach and tell you all about the animals as you go around and be on hand to answer any questions.
Guided Tour places are limited, book early to avoid disappointment.
For £8 per child you would get entry into the safari park, a guided safari tour, a classroom workshop, a chance to see the sea lion display and the birds of prey display and free time to explore the animal enclosures in the walk-around section.
