From birds and bees to butterflies and trees, there’s so much to discover on Knowsley Safari’s Nature Trail.

If you’re looking for a moment of calm during your safari adventure, step into nature with a peaceful stroll around our Nature & Wild Trail — a scenic walking route that offers the perfect opportunity to reconnect with the wild and boost your mental wellbeing.

More Than Just Exotic Animals

While Knowsley Safari is well known for its incredible animals from around the world, the Nature & Wild Trail reveals a quieter, more reflective side of your visit - one that brings you closer to native wildlife, tranquil woodlands, and peaceful lakeside views.

Start your walk from the Equatorial Trail, where you’ll encounter our Vicuña, Capybara, and Lowland Tapir, or from the Birds of Prey area, home to our Soay sheep, Bagot goats, and Cameroon Dwarf sheep. From there, follow accessible, winding paths through open fields and shaded woodland... an ideal space to pause and unwind.

Nature That Nurtures the Mind

Taking time out to be in nature is proven to support mental health, helping to reduce stress, improve mood and create a sense of calm. Whether you’re walking solo, with friends, or as a family, the Nature Trail invites you to slow down, look up, and really connect with your surroundings.

Keep an eye out for native birds in the treetops, from swallows and herons to the occasional flash of a kingfisher skimming across the lake. Along the way, look out for “Can You Find It?” signs that highlight hidden wildlife like insects, trees, and animal tracks - great for curious minds of all ages.

Bugs, Birds & Wild Discoveries

Bug enthusiasts will love our creative bug hotels, made entirely from natural materials like logs, leaves and twigs. Peek into the nooks and crannies to see which insects have made themselves at home. You might spot beetles, bees, and other fascinating creepy crawlies.

The trail also includes interpretive elements to help you learn more about the native species that live alongside the safari’s exotic animals - from butterflies and bees to woodland birds and wildflowers.

A Walk for Everyone

With accessible paths and plenty of places to stop and enjoy the view, the Nature & Wild Trail is perfect for all ages and abilities. It’s a wonderful way to round off your day at Knowsley Safari, offering a few quiet moments to reflect, explore, and feel refreshed.
