On Sunday 11th May, Knowsley Safari was proud to welcome over 1,700 supporters for the return of Oli’s Safari Walk - a fantastic community event organised by Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

Now in its 11th year, this special walk brought together families, friends, and fundraisers for a relaxed 3km stroll through the safari, raising over £42,000, with funds still coming in, to support the children and young people cared for at Alder Hey.

Participants began the day with a lively warm-up and some unique photo opportunities, thanks to a special visit from popular Star Wars characters, before they took off on the 3km route around the Foot Safari.

Alder Hey mascot Oli the Elephant led the way, as participants got an up-close look at some of Knowsley Safari’s animals, and enjoyed surprise appearances from stilt walkers, jugglers and even a life-sized animatronic elephant!

At the finish line, walkers collected their commemorative medals before heading off to explore the rest of Knowsley Safari – from animal displays and amusement rides, to nature trails and Safari Drive.

We’re proud to support Alder Hey Children’s Charity and we’re delighted to once again host this brilliant event. The funds raised through Oli’s Safari Walk help Alder Hey continue their vital work and make a real difference to the 450,000 babies, children and young people who visit the hospital each year.

We’re already looking forward to Oli’s Safari Walk 2026 – who's joining us?
