We are deeply saddened to announce the loss of our African lioness, Handaya, who passed away in her sleep on Monday 18th May.
Handaya had been experiencing age-related health issues, and had been monitored, assessed and treated by our vets and keepers for the last few months.
Born at Knowsley Safari in 2008, Handaya was approaching her 18th birthday, a testament to her long and well-lived life.
She passed peacefully after many happy years at the Safari and will be fondly remembered by her keepers, guests, and her pride.
