2018 has been a fantastic year on safari! Thank you for visiting and bringing the smiles and laughter onto safari! Here’s a round up of what’s happened so far…

Jabari was born!

During the first few days of the year we were welcoming our newest member of the safari family into the world, baby Jabari. Jabari is a male white rhino, born to super mum, Meru and adding to the success of our breeding programme here at Knowsley Safari.

Work was well underway on the Amur Tiger Trail

Throughout the first half of 2018 we were busy behind the scenes creating our brand new Amur Tiger Trail. The area was in the process of being transformed from a muddy woodland, into a state of the art home for our Amur Tigers.

Working alongside ecologists and astronomers on safari

This year the safari played an important role in a project all about helping conservationists in the field.  Working with LJMU this ongoing project saw drone technology being paired with techniques from the world of astrophysics, all in the name of  saving species. Our very own rhino section was used to test out this technology, with our white rhinos modelling this heat mapping technology perfectly.

Jabari’s going for a sprint

After a couple months of keeping warm in the house, it was finally time for Jabari to get his first taste of springtime! And he loved it! So much so, that mum Meru had a hard time keeping up with him. 2018 has been a year of watching Jabari grow and grow and grow, into the big, strong and boisterous toddler he is today.
