Bees
2007 saw the introduction of a new bee house situated between the Lake Farm and the Woodland Walk. We have two working hives and one ‘wild’ hive which can be viewed behind a glass screen. The bees have free access in and out of their house to forage in the nearby wood and meadow land. The wild hive is unique in this county, and it allows our visitors to see how bees would construct their own hive as nature intended. If you see any of our keepers attending to the bees, feel free to ask them about these wonderful insects.
